About Hillstock - State Of Mind

Hillstock Festival - A State Of Mind

HILLSTOCK FESTIVAL - A STATE OF MIND EXPERIENCE
MUSIC, KITES & FLEA
KUMAON, UTTARANCHAL
October 8-12, 2005

JAMMIN' IN THE HILLS
- Today (New Delhi's leading afternoon daily)

Kumaon will come alive to the sound of music this weekend. Delhi's flower children are creating their very own outdoor music festival. Been to Glastonbury? That's an institution. Hillstock is a maiden attempt, but its hitting the right cords.

How many offices in Delhi have a guitar strmming and Jimi Hendrix blasting his traid at 11 o'clock in the morning? Few. Enter the portals of 'State Of Mind'. Headquarters of a bunch of twenty somethings-Raul, Dheeraj, Meraj, Pradeep and Mandy- who have decided that "Enough is Enough". Delhi cannot, will not go hungry for good music. And here's is their POA.

Imagine this. Five days and nights in the woods. Campfire burning. Music. Served live with the barbeque. Kites kissing the moon. The flea bursting with bargains. That's the magic being whipped up for Dusshera. Nearly 70 lucky buggers from delhi will be out of the city Friday night, traveling all the way up to Hartola in the Kumaon hills. That's Hillstock for you.

Hillstock is Delhi's answer to an indigenous Woodstock. A small beginning, in the hills of Kumaon, this Dusshera.

And that's just the beginning. What follows is a congregation of mountains and music buffs, who are going to roam the wilderness, guitars in hand, climbing rocks, crossing rivers by day and jamming up at night. A dream. And wait till you hear the bands who're going to rock. There's Mohit and Kenny of Silk Route fame, 'trans-global outer-nationals minstrels' Shyam and Pankaj of Mili Bhagat, Leo and Suchet of Mystique on the Cajun and Saaz, Joe d'Costa and Babush Santana's jazz, Frequency's mad underground sounds by Lionel Dentan and Jazz and funk layered electronica by Dbase, and more.

The Hillstock flyer says it not a planned trip. That's a myth. For these guys have everything planned out. Travel. Accommodation. Music. Itineraries. For Rs. 7,299 you can get a Super Deluxe tent, with all creature comforts and an attached tiled loo; a frame cottage can fit for a gang of five for Rs. 6,687; or a warm Dorm for those at odds with the cold.

Sounds delicious. Five whole days of music mantra. Join in, but only if you are like minded. For this trip it is all about 'State Of Mind'.
